Effectiveness of Ethical Values in Nurses Quality of Work Life with the Mediating Role of Professional Ethics

Introduction: Enhancing quality of work life is one the important factor to employee recruiting and retention. Many factors affects the nurses quality of work life, among them we can refer to professional ethics and ethical values Aim: This research attempts to analyze the effectiveness of ethical values in Nurses quality of work life with the mediating role of professional ethics. Material & Methods: This research is applied and descriptive (survey). The statistical population of the study included all nurses working in government hospitals in Zanjan, which 266 people were selected according to the Cochran formula. Of these samples, only 182 questionnaires were fully answered. The research tools were Brooks and Anderson (2005) for QWL, Ghasemzade et al. (1393) for professional ethics and a researcher-made moral values questionnaire. Content validity was confirmed by professors and experts review and reliability was confirmed by using Cronbach alpha. For testing hypotheses, SEM methodology and SmartPLS2 software were used. Results: Findings show that ethical values have a positive and significant effect on the quality of work life (B=0.376, t=4.365) and professional ethics (B=0.479, t=7.479). There is no significant relationship between the quality of working life and professional ethics (B=0.038, t=0.420), and the impact of professional ethics on the relationship between the quality of work life and ethical values was not confirmed(t<1.96). Conclusion: with respect to the positive effect of ethical values on nurses quality of work life, hospital managers can design and implement educational course about its importance and to make it works in action, consider its application in payment and promotion.
